Joyce Wagner

November 14, 1937 ~ November 6, 2020
On November 6th, 2020, Joyce Wagner, age 82, surrounded by her family at home, achieved victory from cancer and went running into Jesus’ arms.
Joyce was born on November 14, 1937 in Dickinson, Texas to Andrew Jackson “AJ” and Willie “Irene” Tabor.
Joyce was a longtime, faithful member of Eastern Star. She loved dominoes, crossword puzzles, everything about a parade, Skip Bo, and watching the Price is Right. She was notorious for liking every post she saw on Facebook, and obsessively checked (and immediately responded to) her family’s Snapchats. She was famous for rocking babies. Family members would walk in the door with a fussy baby and know to give them immediately over to Mimi to rock, love on, and be quickly put to sleep. Her family was incredibly important to her… she counted down the days to the next family reunion or event. She loved following her loved ones to the ends of the earth, ranging from attending every ball game to cheer her family on, to Disney cruises, to road trips, to Asia. Joyce embodied being the hands and feet of Jesus by praying persistently, serving her community in countless capacities, and engaging in conversation with people about the love of Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman Eugene Wagner, with whom she celebrated 41 years of marriage before his passing, as well as her parents. She is survived by her children, Norman Wayne Wagner, and Laura Williams and spouse, Blake; grandchildren, Rachel (Derek) Woelfel and Austin Williams; great-grandchildren, Paisley and Hailey Woelfel; older sister Betty Jo Throckmorton, and identical twin Loyce Tabor. Joyce is also survived by countless nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you consider a donation in her honor to Cranes Mill Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on staff for 16 years. She loved her church and considered them family, and they devotedly loved on her so well, especially during her last difficult years battling cancer.
No matter the circumstances, you could find a smile on Joyce’s face that exuded joy in every situation, and inspired those around her to do the same. She radiated the love of Jesus.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:2-4
