Joe “Chon” Santellan, a lifelong resident of New Braunfels, passed away on Sunday morning, February 2, 2025, at the age of 79. Joe, known by family and friends as “Chon”, was born on January 27, 1946 in New Braunfels to the late Ysidoro Santellan and Inez Perez Santellan. Mr. Santellan served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ysidoro and Inez Santellan. Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Munoz; husband, Jimmy Munoz Sr. Grandchildren; Jimmy Munoz Jr and Wife Whitney Munoz, Julissa Munoz, Jasmine Munoz and Wife Almalynn Munoz. Great-grandchildren; Jaylon and Bryson Fennell. Siblings; Brothers, Luis, Manuel, Rocky, Michael, Sandy and Sisters; Elvira Gonzales, Emma Sepulveda, Natalia Santellan, Margaret Reina. He is preceded in death by brother Jimmie and Sisters Rosie Villanueva and Annie Bueche. Joe is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Military Salute at 10:00 a.m. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m, all on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Graveside services with military honors are scheduled for 1:30p.m on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
