On Monday, December 4, 2023, Jared Michael Van Der Vliet resident of Cibolo unexpectedly passed away in San Antonio at the age of 21.
Born on May 4, 2002, in San Diego, CA, to Henry and Kimberly Van Der Vliet. Jared’s childhood included active participation in Boy Scouts, achieving Pinewood Derby finalist status for two consecutive years. His love for baseball led him to embrace the position of catcher. Academic honors included the Presidential Award for Outstanding Student in elementary school and the Engineering Award for Programming and Mechanical Engineering in middle school. Engaged in community service, Jared received recognition for his dedication.
An avid outdoorsman, Jared found pleasure in activities like surfing, tubing, hiking, and running. Recently, he embarked on a new chapter by joining the Electrician Apprentice Program, showing enthusiasm for his evolving career.
Jared is preceded in death by his sister, Ciara and uncle, Michael. Surviving him are his parents, Henry and Kimberly Van Der Vliet; sister, Cayla, and grandmother, Kathy, along with an extensive extended family.
Jared wasn’t merely a good individual; he was truly great, adored by everyone fortunate enough to encounter him. His infectious laughter, warm hugs, and radiant smile filled with joy will be profoundly missed. Always in our hearts, and never forgotten. We love you Buddy.

Jared will truly be missed. Not only was he a hard worker and a huge asset to LSL Electric, he always had a fantastic attitude and was extremely respectful.
