James (Jim) Travis Hanson, Jr.

March 13, 1959 ~ January 30, 2017
James Travis Hanson Jr., affectionately known by all as Jim, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the San Antonio Military Medical Center at the age of 57. Jim was born on March 13, 1959 in Alice, TX to the late James Travis Hanson Sr. and Genevieve Makovy Hill. Jim worked as a realtor for most of his professional career. He was known for greeting everyone with a hug and a smile. Jim loved to go deer hunting and working outside, but most of all loved spending time with his family. He was strong in his Catholic faith and active in his church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Connie Skiles and Susan Cosper, and recently deceased brother-in-law Vance Reid. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Anne Hanson; children, James Travis Hanson III and wife, Lindsay, Caitlyn Hanson and fianc, Sterling Clark; sister, Beverly Reid, and step-mother, Hattie Hanson. In addition, Jim is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A time to visit with the family will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary at 7:30 PM on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation with the family will resume from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Mass of Christian Burial scheduled for 9:30 AM with Father Tony Pesek-Celebrant. Interment will immediately follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held following the burial at St. Mary's Hall of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.

Anne and Caitlyn, I am saddened at Jim’s passing and for your loss. I enjoyed the times I talked to him after Sunday Masses because it was so clear he was a man of faith and integrity. I can’t say I was close to him, but he touched my life.
