Carmen Acosta

November 20, 1955 ~ March 29, 2025
Carmen Cardenas Acosta, of New Braunfels, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 20, 1955, to the late Manuel Cardenas Aviles and Ramona Esquivel Martinez.
On July 19, 1993, Carmen married the love of her life, Jesus Ramon Acosta. Together, they shared thirty-nine beautiful years, building a life full of love, family, and a deep commitment to serving others.
Carmen had many passions that brought her joy. She loved gardening, often spending time tending to her flowers, which brought her peace. Cooking was another of her great joys, and she created many cherished recipes that became family traditions. Her creativity extended to crafting, and her home was always filled with warmth, color, and laughter. She also enjoyed dancing, often spending delightful evenings dancing in the kitchen with her family. Above all, Carmen adored hosting family gatherings, where she brought everyone together with food, faith, and love. Thrifting was another passion, as she loved finding unique treasures and hidden gems.
Beyond her personal hobbies, Carmen was dedicated to serving her community. She volunteered her time regularly, offering sewing and cooking classes to those eager to learn. Whether through local charities or simply offering a helping hand, Carmen was always ready to support others in need.
Carmen is survived by her devoted husband, Ramon; her beloved daughters, Cynthia Perez (spouse Jose Perez), April Pace (fiancé Michael Parks), May Togo (spouse Daniel Togo), Priscilla Villarreal (spouse Daniel Villarreal), and Naomi Hernandez (spouse Pedro Hernandez); and her bonus son, Charles Santos. She was a proud grandmother to twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Carmen is also survived by her brother, Rafael Cardenas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Ramona Cardenas, and her siblings: Carlos Cardenas, Benito Cardenas, Edelmira Calera, and her twin brother, Francisco Cardenas.
Carmen had an extraordinary ability to light up any room with her radiant smile. She was friendly and approachable to anyone and everyone, and her genuine spirit touched those she encountered. She was always willing to give a helping hand, offer words of encouragement, and provide thoughtful guidance. Carmen’s compassion and willingness to help others left an impression on everyone she encountered. Carmen will be remembered not only for her acts of service but for the love, warmth, and joy she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the many seeds of kindness, creativity, and compassion she planted throughout her life.

I had the pleasure of meeting her not long after I moved here through her food 🤤
Then she invited me into her home and attempted to show me how to make tamales and she was soooo patient with me….She fought a long hard battle but I’m Soo glad she crossed my path….RIP

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Carmen Acosta at RBFCU(NB) we instantly became friends. My daughter and I would visit often, sit on her patio porch while enjoying conversations. I loved hearing about MY EXTENDED FAMILY she knew them all. I’m heart broken to hear about her passing. Que en pas descanses Mrs Carmen.
