Michael Kenneth Otten

Michael Kenneth Otten, age 83, and a resident of New Braunfels, passed away Friday morning, January 31, 2025, at his residence. Mr. Otten was born on March 25, 1941, in San Antonio to the late Walter Otten and Lydia F. Matchek. For many years, Michael worked for City Public Service in San Antonio. He had a love for carpentry. He loved to build things and he could make anything beautifully. He loved guns and had quite the collection. He appreciated the beautiful outdoors. He loved food but loved sweets even more. His one true love was his wife Jeanie, whom he couldn’t wait to be with again. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife, Jeanie, and by Jeanie’s parents, Lois and Raymond Taylor. Survivors include son, Jeff Otten and wife, Kandy; daughter, Wendy Otten; grandsons, Jerald Jourden and wife, Melissa and Tyler Otten; granddaughter, AJ (Amanda Jourden) and wife, Amber Britton and great-grandson, Kevin O’nale. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM, all on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. All services will end at the conclusion of the visitation on Sunday afternoon.
